CBD SBI-7 Outcomes: A CBD Women’s Caucus Analysis

This CBD Women's Caucus analysis examines the SBI-7 outcomes through a gender and justice lens, covering resource mobilization, the financial mechanism, the Nagoya Protocol, capacity-building and technical cooperation, the Clearing-House Mechanism, mainstreaming, and communication, education and public awareness (CEPA) — highlighting progress and unresolved gaps ahead of COP17.

Strengthening Gender-Responsive Technical and Scientific Cooperation for KM-GBF Implementation: The Role of Regional and Subregional Support Centres

On 4 August, the CBD Women's Caucus and partners hosted a side event at SBI-7 in Nairobi on how the Technical and Scientific Cooperation (TSC) Mechanism can become a genuine vehicle for gender-responsive KM-GBF implementation. Moderated by Ms. Tiffany Straza, speakers from regional and subregional support centres, the CBD Secretariat and women's organisations examined the gaps, good practices and practical measures needed to make technical cooperation truly inclusive — and what it will take to deliver that ahead of COP17.

From Biodiversity Action to Ecological Justice: The CBD Women’s Caucus at the Biodiversity Policy and Alliance Building Meeting

From 4–7 July, the CBD Women's Caucus joined the Biodiversity Policy and Alliance Building Meeting in Janda Baik, Malaysia, convened by Third World Network and GYBN. Represented by Meenal Tatpati, the Caucus pushed feminist perspectives into discussions on biodiversity loss ahead of COP17, calling for women to be recognized as rights holders and political actors — and for the Gender Plan of Action and Target 23 to move beyond participation toward real power-sharing and accountability.
