CBD Women’s Caucus positions for CBD COP16.2

As we approach COP16.2, the CBD Women’s Caucus presents our position paper, outlining our policy recommendations for key items on the agenda. This paper reflects our commitment to ensuring that gender justice, human rights, and the voices of rights holders—especially women, Indigenous Peoples, local communities, and youth—are integral to biodiversity policies and actions under the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF).

In this paper, we propose critical amendments and recommendations for the negotiation documents, aimed at embedding gender-responsive, inclusive, and rights-based approaches into the key items for discussion at COP16.2:

1. Monitoring Framework for the Kunming-Montreal GBF

2. Enhanced Multidimensional Approach to Planning, Monitoring, Reporting, and Review

3. Cooperation with International Organisations and Bodies Established Under Other Conventions

4. Resource Mobilisation

5. Financial Mechanism

6. Multi-year Programme of Work of the COP
