The CBD Women’s Caucus submits its inputs to identify the best avenues to ensure policy coherence among the Rio Conventions. The submission highlights the need for gender-responsive, rights-based solutions to address the interconnected crises of biodiversity loss, climate change, and land degradation, ensuring that women have the opportunity to contribute to and benefit from environmental decision-making. Also, the document emphasizes the importance of taking into account the full, effective, and inclusive participation and leadership of women in all aspects of the Rio Convention processes, particularly at national and local levels.
This submission will contribute to the discussions at the upcoming 27th meeting of CBD’s Subsidiary Body of Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA), as requested by the CBD COP decision 16/22 to take into account the diversity of values, worldviews and knowledge systems, including the traditional knowledge of indigenous peoples and local communities, as well as the intersectional approaches.
